Pastels, Bows, and Flowers-Welcome to Spring

After a night of thunderous rain, the sun (and some bad winds), At last!
The Sun!
I've been extremely busy lately, what with my Dance Concert, my MoMA exhibition, my documentary, and of course, exams at school, I haven't posted any looks in such a long time!
It's been Midterm week guys, cut me some slack!
Finally it's Spring Break, let's all hope the "Spring" part of this break will kick into gear.
I'll be flying down to New Orleans tomorrow, with the LESGC, painting murals, doing some community work, and scourging the city. I don't know how the status on internet access will be, but I promise to take you guys on a virtual tour on my trip! It's always awesome to see another way of living after always being here in the city. I haven't traveled much besides Upstate, New Jersey and Florida in the US. Louisiana, get ready!
Hopefully I'll meet some really cool people and stumble upon some great thrift shops...
Catch me up on what you'll be doing this Spring Break! :)

These have to be the best thrift find ever! I got these $395 Salvatore Ferragamo's for drum roll please...
$7! I actually got TWO pairs, another patent black pair!
Goes to show that you don't always need loads of money for quality.

All the more reason to go shopping dear...

Matthew Williamson for Macy's: Impulse
First off, I must say, this is probably one of the most creative and vibrant collaborations I've ever seen. Yesterday, I attended British Designer, Matthew Williamson's launch for Macy's Impulse. Even though Matthew Williamson designed a collection for H&M, I feel this latest collaboration is far by, the best!  It seemed like he had much more freedom with his fun personality! The collection was set up so perfectly, in a party-like setting. The colors, prints, and lightweight fabrics are just my idea for this Spring and Summer! Bring it!
DJ and model Harley Viera Newton spinning my favorite hits, "Icecream"
fish and chips like the real British do it!
you always gotta love a good photobooth! :)
The flash from the Press, was blinding, but this picture shows their beautiful eye colors...

A toast to the new and fabulous collection!

These accessories on Kelis' tights were so interesting! They caught my eye from afar!

S W A G.

Just another regular day in St. Marks Place today, I was actually on my way home when me and my friend just decided not to go home and get off Astor Place for no particular reason.
Of course I had my camera with me, already strapped over my shoulder, and there's always fabulous people in St. Marks Place....
STREET STYLE SHOOTING
I saw these awesome guys across the street and I just had to take a photo of their S W A G.
So 80s, I was loving it! I felt like it was a blast from the hip hop past.
As I was introducing myself and complimenting them on their upmost incredible swag, one of the guys (above left) said to me, "I love bloggers, I have such high respect for them" and then went on to compliment my glasses (people must really love My Oliver Peoples frames! I get complimented on them almost all the time...) They were so friendly!
I was loving the flat top...
the rings...
And I'm in search of a backpack!
I need to find the perfect one!
With so many books to carry in a shoulder bag, my small frame is tilting to one side.
These guys are looking awesome in their backpacks, definitely a trend that I've seen among young people today. When I asked them about this, if they would have seen themselves in these backpacks three years ago, they were hesitant in thought, "I used to always have a Northface, I just got mine last week" one of them replied.
Style spreads like wildfire indeed!

Cut Arts funding but not WAR?

This is a SHAME
This is exactly how the very things that keep some people alive, well, and HAPPY become destroyed with injustice.
The cost of war in the United States is over ONE BILLION DOLLARS:
http://costofwar.com/en/
47 MILLION people in the U.S. don't have health care and 8.7 billion are children.
We complain about global warming but we have the money to cut down 2.47 acres of the Amazon Forest EVERYDAY. That's equal to TWO American Football Fields.
What is wrong with the way humans live and treat each other?
More than ever, more people are becoming more aware about the major flaws of our governments when it directly effects them. Being a part of a performing arts high school and a student of this country's education system, budget cuts have already hit us tremendously. Not only that, but most of the arts, dance, film, and photography programs I'm involved in are funded by the government.
What happens when that's gone?
Not only students, but PEOPLE will not have anywhere to turn.
Crime rates will increase and more and more teens are vulnerable to drugs and alcohol.
I have no idea what I would do without my arts classes and programs.
As a country, a people, and the ENTIRE WORLD, we need to reevaluate our priorities and how we're all just killing ourselves.

"How come we have money to kill but no money to feed or heal?
How come we have money to destroy, but no money for art and schools?"

Spring & Summer are taking their sweet time...

This weather is too bipolar for me to keep up with.
It's as if I need an umbrella, snowboots, and shorts with me just in case the weather decides to change it's mind. But on a lighter note, I am in desperate need of re-stocking my closet with prints, neon, and neutrals!
Topshop's SS 2011 collection inspired me for this season, check it out!

the bold stripes and the flowers around the head are going to be so much fun to try!
